My Big Fat Fabulous Life: Whitney Thore’s Mother Passes Away
Whitney Thore went through a devastating loss earlier this month. The My Big Fat Fabulous Life cast member lost her mother, Babs Thore.
Over the past few years, her mother had had several strokes. She also had cerebral amyloid angiopathy. According to the TLC celeb, it is a progressive condition with no treatment available.

Babs had another stroke last month and wasn’t able to recover. She passed away on December 7th, 2022, with her husband, Glen Thore and two children, Whitney and Hunter Thore, by her side.
Whitney Thore thought Babs Thore was the “best mother” and her “best friend.” The My Big Fat Fabulous Life reality star plans to live for her mother “every minute” for the rest of her life. But it seems like her mother wanted her daughter to know that she would always be with her.
Whitney Asks Babs Thore for a Sign
Whitney Thore shared a special moment with her mother before her passing. While Babs Thore was in rehab in February, the TLC celeb asked her when she leaves Earth what would she return as when she visited. Babs said her daughter’s cat Henchi.
However, Whitney explained to Babs that Henchi could “very well outlive her.” So, the My Big Fat Fabulous Life celeb asked her to pick something else. She suggested a bird. Babs then said, “a red cardinal.”
After Whitney’s mother’s passing, she kept an eye out for the red bird. However, days passed, and she didn’t see one. She even made a garden with a bird feeder, hoping to attract one. But still no luck.
So, before sealing Babs’ casket, Whitney put a note on her chest. She wrote, “please come back to me and send me a sign.”
And 24 hours later, she and her father, Glenn Thore, walked into her dining room, sat down and saw a red cardinal outside. She then explained to her father the significance of the bird showing up.

Whitney Thore was hesitant to share her story about the red cardinal. She is usually skeptical about that type of stuff. However, she is glad she did because it seems like Babs Thore had also visited some of her friends.
Whitney’s friend Tal Fish told her that the screen on his laptop randomly changed to a picture of cardinals. Another good friend of the My Big Fat Fabulous Life cast member saw one on their way to work the same day.
Todd Beasley is pet-sitting at someone’s house that he’s never been to before, and there is a picture of the red bird in the home.
The TLC star hopes she’s not crazy and that all these moments are not just coincidental. Babs seems to have listened to the note and shown her daughter a sign.
